Open Source +blue+ by FlavrSavr Open Source +blue+ by FlavrSavr
This is a wallpaper I've made for the Macedonian open-source community: Free/Libre Software Macedonia. (Sloboden Softver Makedonija - OSSM) Here's the site - [link] . This is just to remind them that somebody appreciates their efforts and enthusiasm, (personally I find it amazing, considering the overall situation here) but I hope our relations will strengthen through time.*

*the hypocrite i am, i composed this in ps... the GIMP is not a good substitute for it (or maybe i'm not totally aware of its possibilities), but i'm sure there will be a time when rapid improvements in the linux graphic field will occur, for open-source is the future.

Nice, but I liked the greenish one better.

interesting, what about taking the background away and let the birdy stand alone? It would be expressive enough. Try to fix the typo as well.
hope my critique wasn't too harsh:-)

hmm... taking the background away would be too much of using another man's photo for me, but it is a good idea... i will mention this to my 'superiors' :D as for the typo... could you please tell me what is wrong (the size, the font.. the placement?)
btw, don't worry... you're not harsh at all.. i love constructive criticism (there is a lack of it here on DA, have you noticed?)

the bitmap font is ok, I would take those 10101...out coz its too insignificant. or make it smaller and transparent.
second try to use more layers in photoshop and more brushing. even if you want to make something simple and minimalistic you have to invest a lot of time and work in it. one pic and some typo isn't enough. I had those problems too, now I try to be more self-critical. Its always a good way to compare your work with some of the best here at da. keep it up and your skills will improve:-)
